Sept 29th. Seen this band at the Wheatsheaf on Sunday Afternoon, 28th Sept, they were back by popular demand after initially playing there only a couple of weeks ago. Am I glad I went to see them, they were absolutely brilliant, look forward to their next visit. SUPERB!. Georgia

Sept 7th. Wheatsheaf Sunderland just re-opened - fantastic decor! and worra great band to kick off the gigs program! I've seen these guys before and they never give less than 110%. Excellent electric blues/r'n'b, brilliant musicians and a lass with a fantastic voice! If you've got kids and want to introduce them to REAL top notch lively MUSIC, get them along to one of Black River's afternoon gigs. And good luck to Teresa at the Wheatsheaf, you set a high bar for other artists to aim for...re-book Black River, your punters loved them!.....Slappo

Love the new website! look forward to seeing you's in newcastle soon! Alex

I was at the Star Inn in Newcastle on Sunday afternoon 27/01/08 to measure up for a repaint job and this band kicked off. I was gonna go straight off to paint my aunty's sitting room (busmans holiday even on a Sunday) but when I heard them I stayed back till after they'd finished 2 hours later. They were absolutely brilliant...excellent musicians and a fab singer, she didn't half kick ass! Must be the best live band I've ever heard in a pub and they put a lot of superstar primadonna bands in their place. Real standouts were truly brilliant versions of Muddy Water Blues and Parisien Walkways, and a cracking one of Amy Winegum's Back to Black. If you've never seen this band get your skates on! At the interval there was a young(ish) lad called Howard Jackson got up and did a few mouth organ numbers, found out he'd never been onstage before but he did quite canny and nobody ran for the door!(could have potential if he gets plenty of practice in). Anyway, 3 bevvies later I had to leave my van in the toon and my aunty never got her walls painted (best skive I've ever had!)...........Matt Black, Master Decorator.
